The village of Pereiras-Gare at the beginning had its
development with the arrival of the way-of-iron of century XX. Being its main source
income forestry, (sobreiro, medronho and more recently eucalipto). The industry of
the mills of wind and water mills also existed, of which still it has nowadays many
vestiges in the region. In the locality existed two flour millings, remaining still
one in good condition of conservation. In this locality we can also see the bridge
of the Mouratos, highest of the south of the country, on which it passes the line
of the way-of-iron.

Between the mountain range and the sea, for where the
river Mira follows its way, we find Odemira. White houses, of blue and yellow bars
that extends for hillsides,along the river. The best form to know the village is by
foot. To know the Church of Salvador and Santa Maria, the chafariz of the main plaza
and the place of the castle, that is the primitive nucleus of the local village, where
long ago existed an Islamic castle that in sucessive stages was disappearing. The
municipal wind-mill of Alto de São Sebastião is one of the places not to lose therefore
shows to the visitor the process of milling of the flour for the traditional form.
Odemira makes use of a way round along the river, for where the visitor will be able
to enjoy of pleasant moments next to the river Mira.

Silves, where the red walls of the castle dominate the
city and the landscape in redor. White streets, where the past and the present cross
to become a inesquecível visit! Places to visit: Castle, Old Sé, walls of the city,
municipal museum and Cross of Portugal.

Monchique, land with history since the presence of the
Romans, attracted by the power dressing of its waters, the woollen weaving and hemp
and the wood of chestnut had contributed for its prosperity. Today Monchique deserves
to be visited on foot, going up and descends streets, visiting local as the first
church, church of São Sebastião and Ermida do Senhor dos Passos. To go up the mountain
range and to discover almost in each curve, trees, birds and flowers and a panorama
of mountain range and sea. Fóia and Picota are the most emblematic places for pleasant
strolls!
